In a recent vlog post where she showcased her bag collection, Regine had compared the smell of a brown bag she bought in Hong Kong to the smell of the former dump site found in Payatas, Quezon City which closed down in 2010.
“Ito kasing bag na ‘to, mabaho [This bag, it stinks],” she said. “I remember, noong binili ko talaga, ang baho talaga niya [when I bought it, it really smelled bad]. It used to stink so much. It still is.”
She recalled shooting for a documentary in Payatas and compared her experience with the stench of her bag.
“Kaamoy nung bag ko ‘yung Payatas, nakakatawa. Kasi kapag nasa Payatas ka na, hindi mo na maamoy yung basura eh. Kasi kayo, pare-pareho na kayo ng amoy doon. [My bag smells like Payatas, it’s amusing. Because when you’re in Payatas, you don’t smell the garbage. That’s because you all smell the same there],” she shared.
“This is the bag I was wearing. And so after the whole shooting, akala ko nasa Payatas pa rin ako, ‘yun pala yung bag ko yung mabaho [I thought I was still in Payatas, and then I realized it was my bag that stinked]. Mas mabaho pa siya sa Payatas [It smells worse than Payatas],” she added.
