Terry Crews is Dropping Hints That He Wants To Play King Triton in The Little Mermaid
Now that Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel in the live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, the Internet has been searching for someone to play her father, King Triton. And Terry Crews just volunteered as tribute… well… as Triton.
On Sunday, July 7, Terry posted ‘fanart’ of him with a tail and a trident on his official Twitter account. His first Tweet had the caption, “Ariel’s Dad!!!!!” while his follow-up Tweet said, “Good thing I skip leg day because mermen don’t have legs!”

Fans of the actor quickly supported him on social media, while others suggested other actors such as Idris Elba. King Triton would be a totally different character from all of the roles Terry has played before. The actor currently stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine as the lovable Terry Jeffords.
Aside from Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy is also in talks to join The Little Mermaid as the iconic sea witch Ursula.
